No video when using video capture device

I'm trying to digitize old video cassette tapes from a sony handycam using a video capture device and obs. I can get the sound, but not the video on my pc. I have the input selected as the video capture usb 2.0 and I chose the correct resolution. I resized the screen so that there is a red outline around the window. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

please send an obs log but try open the device on VLC and test it on many devices you must first select the right input like composite video or Svideo

look into configure crossbar

or try VLC player to open the device first did you use an Scart 2 composite /Svideo converter or did you use composite direct ?


when you have an handycam with firewire please dont use the composite video out buy an Firewire card and use this to record the the picture so the picture will come looseless to your PC !

Didn't work. I already have that setup. The AV to USB 2.0 is already set as my device
