Question / Help No video track in output mp4 for about 3.5 seconds

I don't know whether this is a help request or a bug report.

I have managed to record a video that has an audio track that's longer than the video track. The video doesn't exist at all for about 3.5 seconds.

This is distinct from having a black video; if you play the file with VLC, it simply shows the playlist while it plays audio, and then jumps to the video when it starts.

I don't know whether this is something I managed to do wrong, or whether OBS has done something weird. As it is, I can't use this video in kdenlive and I'm hoping some manual ffmpeg shenanigans is going to properly patch it.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to a) fix this video and b) not get this again? After recording nearly 100 videos in OBS Studio this is the first time I've had one even slightly weird, and I've not changed any settings since I first set it up.

Don't record in mp4 format if you value your time and sanity, record in MKV then use the Remux Recordings option in File if you must have it MP4.

MP4 corrupts too easily
