Question / Help No video capture devices show up when streaming

Hello,

I used to be able to use OBS with ease, however I recently have been having a huge amount of problems. Mainly, video capture devices aren't showing up at all during stream/stream preview. To clarify, a video capture device will appear in the drop down and I am able to select it, however once streaming begins the device is invisible. I do not get a black or red screen, and from the device settings, it looks like everything is normal, it just literally wont show up.

For example: http://i.imgur.com/LCxSDfW.png Even though I have video capture device 1 (my webcam) and dazzle (my game capture) in my sources, they aren't going to the spots I have in my overlay. The white background is a part of my overlay, not what is being displayed. Literally nothing is being displayed. I looked into my log files, but I cant really find any issues. Log files are available here:

I have changed 3d settings in my nvidia control panel as suggested by OBS and I have appropriate settings for video, encoding and advanced (at least I'm 99% sure I do) so I don't think thats the issue. I have also fiddled with these settings to no avail. This happens on both the 64 and 32 bit versions of the program.

I am also able to see these video capture devices on other applications. Namely, xsplit and even obs studio (sometimes, I usually have trouble getting these devices to show up in a similar manner to the standalone OBS I'm describing now) will show my webcam and game capture if I try hard enough. I have also reinstalled obs and obs studio, reinstalled these program's drivers using 32 and 64 bit drivers just to see if that changed anything and it does not.

Furthermore, with a ton of work and luck, I can very rarely get one capture device to work. This generally requires me to insert the capture device's usb into a different slot many times, remove all video capture devices many times, restart my computer many times, refresh video capture devices many times, close and reopen obs multiple times, etc. It is purely luck based and usually takes over an hour to "fix" this problem. This is not a solution and having to do this every time is unacceptable. This is not an issue of these being used by multiple applications at once because it'll still happen even if OBS is the first thing I open on startup.

This is not just exclusive to my webcam and dazzle, same thing will happen using my elgato capture card.

I have done other stuff to try to fix this issue but I've done so much I can't think of what at this point. I'll be happy to answer any questions, I just want to get this to work.

Seems like a resolution problem. Make sure when you setup the properties you put custom resolution and put it at what resolution you want to output. 720 or 1080

You sir, are a golden god.

EDIT: Actually, unfortunately this only worked temporarily. After changing base resolution I was able to get both my webcam and game capture to show up great, then I ended my preview and tried to stream, where neither showed up.

In your stream settings output do they match the correct resolution? Might be the issue. Usually when there's no signal it's a resolution problem. Too big or too small.

I am now having this exact same problem. It started happening a few days ago. I had not changed anything on OBS, and it was working great. First the webcam started not showing up, and then my hauppauge hd pvr2 ge wouldn't show up either a few days later. Now they either both work or neither work. Most of the time I have to restart the computer, and leave obs open for everything to work. Once I close OBS it's all over until I repeat.
