Question / Help No sound from Sound Blaster Omni

I installed OBS tonight and I really like the layout and the functions, however, there seems to be an issue with it recording sound from my device. I have been using a computer since 1991 (Tandy 1000) so I am no stranger to configuration settings, but this one has me stumped. I am able to record sound from my webcam (hp) but not from the sound blaster OMNI. I have made sure the windows default is set as the Omni, all the settings in the audio settings are set up for the sound blaster and the main interface on the mixer section I have right-clicked and ensured that its set to record from the Omni. I have tried the sound blaster program as well, all is working everywhere but OBS. I know it has to be a simple setting that I am somehow overlooking. The sound from the webcam is horrible (at least for my standards) and I need to use the omni for the raw feed and then I'll tweak it in audition. Yes, I can record in audio in audition and then sync with obs later, but I would rather do it all in one program just to make things easier on me. I just don't like having to mess with the time-sync when I go to remove something from the video.

I can load skype, discord, camtasia, pinnacle studio, and even Microsofts attempt at screen recording using the X-Box screen recorder (using the bypass) to record items other than what microsoft wants to give permission to record. The first two programs are older versions and I do not wish to invest more money into something I can do for free. Anyways, all these problems detect and record from the sound blaster omni with little to no setup.

Any ideas on what might be the cause of the problems?

oh, just an fyi I have removed the HP webcam so that the only microphone is the sound blaster omni and that had zero effect on OBS picking up the sound. It shows the device just fine and its set for Mic-In/Mic Array (Sound Blaster Omni) for the audio recording device. Not using any push to speak, I want it recording from the time I click start till I hit finish.

AMD FX9590
16GB Ram
Windows 10 Enterprise Build 17134
OBS 23.2.1 64-bit
OS & Program/Recording drives are separate SSD drives.

In OBS, do Edit->Advanced Audio Properties and make sure your desired audio device(s) appear in the list, and that every audio device you want to record, has a check mark for track 1.
If some audio device is missing here, make it known to OBS it in Settings->Audio.
