I'm using OBS 20.0.1 (64bits, Windows) and came across an issue.
For some unknown reason, there is no sound playback being outputed by my audio capture, be it on stream, recordings or audio monitoring, despite the green bars in the OBS mixer moving, which means the program is detecting my desktop sound just fine, but not outputting it in any way. Also, my mic input works and outputs just fine.
I've looked for and tried for many solutions, switching sound sources, switching to default, and nothing worked. My sound setup consists on an USB DAC & Headphone AMP that is plugged in an USB port in my computer, then my headphones are connected to the DAC through a 3.5mm jack.
Connecting my headphones directly into the computer's 3.5mm jack resolved the issue, and OBS outputted my desktop audio just fine. But given the superior audio quality the DAC & AMP provides, I'd really like to use it when streaming. Also, I thought that maybe the sample rate was simply too high for OBS to handle, so I turned the sample rate down but it didn't solve the issue.
Messing with other audio configurations in OBS wasn't successful as well. I've tried other streaming programs with my DAC audio setup, and even Nvidia's Shadowplay managed to playback my desktop audio just fine, which means that the problem consists on some kind of compatibility issue between OBS and my USB DAC & Headphone AMP.
Does anyone else have an idea of what may be the problem, or had a similar issue? I've searched for solutions for hours, to no success so far, and haven't figured out if anyone ever had a problem like this when using a DAC or external soundcard.
On a side note, I've tried setting up Virtual Audio Cables with Audio Repeater hoping that maybe I could loop the desktop audio from my DAC to a virtual input and make OBS pick that up, but Audio Repeater simply can't recognize the DAC as a output device. Window's stereo mixer also does not pickup any desktop sound from the DAC whatsoever.
