Question / Help No OpenGL Renderer Option Settings>Advanced>Video

Hello. Since uninstalling about a month and a half ago and reinstalling the latest version of OBS Studio, the option under video renderer for OpenGL has disappeared. This was the only way I'd been able to get display capture to work on my machine using Nvidia Surround.

With the DX11 renderer my display capture is a blinking black screen. It's possible that the setting was located under the properties accessed by right clicking the Display Capture source.

I remember there being more options on the OpenGL renderer as well - multi-GPU fix, etc.

Now, the renderer is hidden under the command line key --allow-opengl. Because it is not recommended on windows.

Would you explain why opengl is not recommended with OBS on Windows ? I tried looking online to no avail.

Also, if opengl is not used, what is being used?

Thanks

Poor support (from some GPUs) on Windows was the main reason at the time when decision was made. Most video cards on Windows are devices for gaming (where OpenGL is usually optional thing). Details:
