No NVENC encoding option with NVIDIA 710 card

Hi to all again. Just bumping this subject up, because so far I have not been able to solve the No NVENC option to use my GPU to encode, and I have had to keep using SLOBS, unfortunately.

Apparently the newer OBS versions are unable to recognize and communicate with my GPU, that's what I've been told. One guy here was going to try and find out if the card was on a blacklist, told me it is not, but the problem is still ongoing for me.

Do you know of any not too old version of OBS that could recognize my NVIDIA 710 card and that I could add the multi stream plugin too? That's the only feature that is keeping me locked at SLOBS for now. Thanks a lot.

Confirmed, the GeForce GT 710 (GK208) does not have NVENC hardware support.

The GeForce 710A (GK107) does, but only minimally with a single 4:2:0 core. It's unlikely the OP has this, and much more that SLOBS is simply lying and falling back to software encoding internally.

GT series cards don't have that encoder I know that for a fact because I have a GT series card and know other GT cards don't have it if you want to get that encoder get a GTX series or RTX some might not be able to afford one though.

I think the GT 710A w/ GK107 (K=Kepler series) is what I have, and even that is not on the
MATRIX list which I think is because they are only showing current SUPPORTED chipsets
and they have dropped support for all Kepler series. I think the upshot of being "supported"
means that their software tools and libraries recognize them.
So some Keplers have NVENC, but they will never be in the Matrix again.
The upshot is that, I think, as apps get built with the latest NVIDIA tools, the
recognition of Keplers with NVENC will cease. Going with boards on the Matrix
will be wise, and the newer the better for support longevity.

So OP probably has a GK208 chipset, whereas mine, which so far is recognized, has
the GK107. Mine is this one:
MSI NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 1GB DDR3 Graphics Card (GT 710 1GD3H LPV1)
Photo attached.
I have a few of these. I have assumed that anything that looks like this has
the same chipset. So far so good.
I just put one of these in a machine and checked, OBS selects NVENC by default for it.

I have also been getting GTX750 boards as they become available for cheap.
GTX750ti has NVENC, but the 750 has more NVENC features, being gen 2 of the chipset,
according to the Matrix.
(I always thought the ti's were better than non ti's but that's not always the case)

However, the 710s were usually single slot width.
For some of my computers, I need single slot width because the adjacent PCIe slot
is essential. The 750s as far as I have seen are all double width.
I use 750s in my ATX motherboards where I can afford to use a double wide board.
There are few options in single slot width boards above the 710 series.
So I'm hoping I don't have to change the 710s out too soon.

I'm going to request that they try to keep the Keplers with NVENC recognized in OBS
if they can...

hi, came across this thread when doing trying to fix an issue, i have not much computer knowledge. i have a NVIDIA Ge Force GT 710 graphics card and i am trying to set my computer up to use this obs software to live stream to youtube but it comes up with an error message saying NVENC is not supported or something like that lol. does this mean i cannot use this software or is there settings i can change? any help would be most appreciated

That GPU don't support NVENC so you can't use nvenc with it. You can still use x264 (uses CPU) if your system can handle it.

Hi. I am currently facing the same issue with OBS, as I have the same graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 710). I was doing some research about if I could use OBS with this card. I found this on Google and I think it answers up all your queries pretty well.

If the codename of your graphic card begins with GK (Kepler microarchitecture), GM (Maxwell microarchitecture), or GP (Pascal microarchitecture), TU (Turing microarchitecture) then your graphic card does support NVENC; if not, then your graphic card likely does not support NVENC. - Google.com

Hope it helps!
