Question / Help No lag in-game while recording, but the output is laggy...

Hi, CodeBlackGames here. I use OBS VCE. While recording Just Cause 2, I'm able to play the game at a solid 60fps with no drops. I record at 720/30fps downscaled from 1600x900. However, I'm having an issue. After recording, when I watch the recording, there are pauses and stutters. The recording will be smooth then pause for like a millisecond and become smooth again.

This doesn't happen in-game; only in the recording. It only happens for like a millisecond; but completely ruins the smoothness of the video.

If it helps, here's my specs:
OS: Windows 7
GPU: HD 7850
CPU: i5 3570k
RAM: 4GB

I make gaming videos for youtube, so I need my recordings to be very stable.

So if someone could help me find a solution to this; I would appreciate it.

First of all, does it happen without VCE? VCE is still in testing and managed by jackun. I just want to make sure it's not VCE first because I don't really know how to help with the VCE stuff, that's his arena.

Well it happens without VCE too.

It's like in the middle of the recording, it will start to skip every other frame; then becomes smooth again.

And even though it's recording at 30fps, sometimes it seems like 20fps.

Hm, not entirely sure, I don't see any problem with the log file, things seem to be in order and your system is pretty decent.

Well just cause 2 works fine with OBS. I have it myself and have tested it a number of times. Not entirely sure what's going on.
