Question / Help No Game Audio- Elgato Hd 60 S- please help

I have an HD 60 S and a brand new desktop. I was using game capture HD but Elgato support told me to use OBS instead as there were serious problems with Game Capture HD that had resulted in me losing hours of video. I wanted to avoid using OBS because it doesn't seem as user friendly, but here we are.

So far I am able to get my game audio and my desktop microphone audio, but not any game audio. I have followed some tutorials- I have selected "Use custom audio device" and picked my capture card from the dropdown menu. I have also selected the capture card as the audio device. I still cannot get it to work. To me it looks like it is configured properly. Asides from the audio it looks like it's working fine.

Two other things I should add:
1) I am NOT STREAMING. I record gameplay videos of me playing game + the live game/party chat on my Xbox One. I use a microphone and interface for my voice. My headset is a POS xbox headset. I do not plug it into my computer. It goes into my xbox controller. Also, I am not recording ANY desktop audio.

2) I have a chat link cable that I use ONLY when I'm talking in game chat. In Game Capture HD what I would do is, set it to analog when I wanted to record game chat, but when I wanted to record party chat, I would set it to HDMI (I was able to record party chat without needing the chatlink cable.- I only need it for game chat.)

I found one video where the user recommended clicking on "Advanced Audio Properties". When I click it I get a totally different menu than he did. I have attached a photo of what I see when I click "advanced audio properties" as well as a photo of what the other guy saw when he opened it. Notice the formatting on mine is wonky, and is missing many of the settings his had. (His had a volume knob on the bottom and he said his problem was that that volume knob was turned down.) I'm wondering why mine doesn't have these settings.

Hopefully I get this all running. Elgato support told me that my previous issues could have been with my desktop (it's older but still passes the required specs) or it could be the software. I bought a brand new desktop that I am using only for recording video with a 8-core AMD processor and a decent graphics card and a solid state drive. Not the "best" computer for gaming but I only really play games on Xbox, and it's PowerSpec so I can upgrade things if I need to. Unfortunately with Game Capture HD I'm running into problems with the software crashing and losing the videos, so Elgato has told me to try OBS to see whether the problem is their software, my deskptop, or the capture card. I have about 10 days left on my return period on the desktop and the capture card is probably out of the return period. Hopefully I get this working. I hate being that customer who needs to return an $800 computer because of silly issues like these.

Sorry for the long post. Much appreciated if someone could walk me through how I can get this working.

The logfile says to me:

You've got the Elgato added separately as an audio device, and as a separate video device. Normally a video capture device in OBS captures audio and video together. Is this your intent?

You've configured the Elgato to not capture audio, but instead to play audio to Elgato Sound Capture, which is the device you've added above. Is this the way Elgato instructs that OBS should be used with this device?

Normally with capture devices I add only one device, use device audio, and select "capture only". I then use either OBS or other third party software (Voicemeeter) for monitoring by selecting that device to play through to a headset.

Elgato wasnt able to tell me how to configure the capture card with OBS. Can you walk me through what settings I need to change? Elgato Sound Capture is software for capturing and mixing audio from multiple sources, such as desktop audio. I don't need to capture any desktop audio- just the audio coming thru the capture card (hdmi and the analog input on the capture card). I'm just recording gameplay and commentary via a desktop mic.

All the necessary settings should be available when viewing the properties of your video capture source for the Elgato (right click the item, choose Properties). I'm not able to give precise instructions as I do not have Elgato hardware myself.

RESOLVED: The problem is now fixed. All it took was a simple reinstall of OBS. For some reason the audio was playing through the desktop audio channel instead of the Video Capture Device channel. Elgato support was actually really helpful getting it fixed and the guy I spoke with was really knowledgeable regarding OBS. I was expecting them to tell me to get help elsewhere as OBS isn't their product.
