Bug Report No Capture Card Audio for me but Audience can Hear Audio

I have OBS 21.1.2 installed on my computer and I cannot hear the audio from my elgato HD60s capture card. I can hear the audio when using elgato's software, but not when using OBS itself. I have contacted OBS multiple times and they seem to believe it has to do with OBS and/or the Spring update for Windows. Is there anyway to fix this so that I can hear my PS4 and Switch when trying to stream via my computer? I do not have speakers and am trying to use my headphones jacked into my computer. It worked before the OBS and Windows update (Updated both on same day). But now it does not. Thank you in advance!

ok im glad im not the only one having this issue. usually this wouldnt be an issue. OBS picks it up and records all the audio from the capture card but i can not get it to play through the headphones. Any help would be nice

hey Smithery, I had some buddies help me out. To resolve the issue, remove your current capture device from the SOURCE section. Readd it but before you save it, scroll all the way down to where it says "AUDIO OUTPUT MODE" and click direct sound

Jolomaggins, when I do that the audio bars stop moving for my elgato. So my guess is that the viewers would not be able to hear anything now.

DO NOT change the audio output mode in the properties of the video capture device.
It causes MAJOR performance issues.

Use audio monitoring instead.

Use monitor only and make sure that the correct sound device is set in settings - advanced.

Also, if your audience is getting the elgato's audio that means that OBS is capturing it properly.

When I choose monitor only I still cannot hear anything on my end. The audio bars are still moving but I cannot hear it on my end
