No audio while OBS is running

Whenever OBS is running on my computer, any audio that i could previously hear (such as music or game sounds) stops playing through my headphones. When i close OBS i can hear everything just fine but as soon as i open it back up everything goes silent. OBS seems to be recording the audio just fine but i cant hear anything when its open.

Windows settings -> System -> Sounds -> Sound Control Panel

Go to the Communication tab, make sure "Do Nothing" is selected.
