Question / Help No audio on recording

I'm new to OBS and after 2 days of testing audio settings I'm stuck.

I have a Shure SM57 plugged into the mic input on my PC.
In windows sound recorder it works.
On OBS the mic/aux green bar moves when I talk.

When I record though there is no sound. Well I say no sound but occasionally there's a bit of voice and a high frequncy/low volume noise.

Any help would be very appreciated - my son wants to get going on making Minecraft videos so I'm being nagged, a lot.

Using what media player to check the recordings?

And what if you check the recordings with VLC?

Try VLC. If that doesn't work, post a log.

You made me question that straight away and I just checked with VLC and it works. Cheers.
So it's not OBS.
I'll have to check the audio setting on LIghtworks now.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I was being stupid :)
