I've been using OBS Studio with great success building a movie library from downloads through my set top box. Last week my subscription to Windows 10 Enterprise was about to expire, so I reloaded the OS. I went through the Windows settings to set everything the way I liked it. After I checked out everything to make sure it was running correctly, I downloaded a fresh copy of OBS and tried to record a movie. to make this long story shorter, I tried everything I could of think of, and tried all the advice I could find about missing audio (including this website).
Someone here mentioned that he was having trouble with his microphones (I saw a similar thread on YouTube). I went into the windows settings and clicked 'allow' on the microphone . . . . .Need I continue? OBS came to life instantly. Remember in "The Last Starfighter" where they put an instant language translator device on Alex Rogan's uniform and he instantly understood everything he heard? Well, turning on that microphone was my Voila moment.
This might be the ticket for you, too.
