No Audio from VHS Capture Card

I am running Windows 10 64-bit with an Intel i5 CPU. I have installed a USB video capture card to record VHS tapes to my hard disc, and although I can see the VHS video clearly on my screen, there is no audio output through my speakers. I can see audio on the analyser below the output screen, and if I record a section of video there is sound on the recording. However, I would like to hear audio when watching the VHS tape playback to fix the record points. I imagine it is just a configuration problem, but I cannot find a fix. Can you help a newbie please?

Click Edit->Advanced Audio properties and locate the audio entry of your video capture device. Change the "Audio monitoring" setting from "Monitor Off" to "Monitor and Output".
At the same time, make sure you're not capturing any other audio sources, for example desktop audio, otherwise you will get a feedback. For this, go to Settings->Audio and make sure every entry in "Global Audio Devices" is set to "Disabled".

Thanks for the reply, but after making the changes you suggest, I still have no sound. I have attached the screenshots of the changes made, let me know if there's anything else to edit.

Then it means that Monitoring Device (from your screen it is set to some unknown "Default" device) is not your speakers (where you expecting to hear the sound from).

Just something to look for
- Check Windows Sound settings - I noticed my Default Audio playback was set to my DisplayPort monitor (which has an 3.5mm audio port) not PC speakers... thanks Microsoft (not). So just because you are hearing sounds for other things does NOT mean your OS default audio device is what you think it is (and OBS is just doing what it's told, whether that is what you expect or not is whole other issue). Or as noted above, switch from using Default Audio output device, and pick a specific device

Thank you both for the replies, it's much appreciated. I have now cracked it, but I think this is a peculiarity of my Video Capture USB card: I had to add a second device - Audio Input Capture - and then with all the other audio settings disabled, change both devices to "Monitor and Output", and I now have sound when viewing the VHS tape. Now all I have to do is find the time to sort through all my VHS tapes! Oh, and Suslik - good luck with the Euro 2020 football match, may the best team win!
