No audio from DV Camcorder

Hi, I've successfully transferred Gbs of video from a VHS player and 8MM Camcorder using a Capture device.

I'm now trying to capture video from a Canon MV500i Camcorder which is plugged into my iMac using a 4-9 Pin firewire cable plugged into an Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter.

The video transfers but I am not getting any audio, neither with OBS or iMovie.

In OBS do I need to add an audio capture source for the MV500i? I do not seem to be able to find anything in the source options. I am wondering if this might be a macOS problem, I am running Catalina 10.15.7.

Thank you for any help or guidance

I’m having the same or similar problem.
My setup:
I have a VHS VCR with composite video/audio out to a Hi8 camcorder AV input, then EtoE pass-through via Firewire (4 pin) out from the camcorder via a Tripp Lite FireWire 800 IEEE 1394b Hi-speed Cable (9pin/4pin) to Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter into MacBook Air (Mid 2013). The VHS content plays fine on the camcorder and I can see the video in OBS using the camcorder as the video capture device, but I’m not getting any audio. I don’t see the camcorder listed when I add an audio capture source.

@wds@obs364 I was just wondering whether you had made any progress, would be great to hear if you've managed to get the audio into OBS from Firewire into a Thunderbolt port.
