No audio alerts in OBS

Hi there,

I've had huge issues with hearing audio alerts (they show they are working as the bar is indicating sounds) but i hear no alerts.
Also the alerts work when i stream, just cant hear them on my end.

I had huge issues with the alerts stuttering also, but not sure that is related to this.

Im using Mac, with blackhole through a multi output device, through ableton. (i can hear my audio microphone fine).

Desktop sounds work okay as well through browser, just not in OBS.

Any help hugely appreciated, ive been tearing my hair out with this, thinking it could possibly be something due to the new update?

Can anyone can help?

ive tried literally everything and cannot hear the audio alerts (they work fine when i do a recording or on stream - but i cant hear them playing back) - all other audio i can hear!

update to this, incase anyone else reads it and requires the same help.

turning off "control audio via OBS" fixed the trick so i can hear alerts, still cannot hear media sources (as they cannot be turned off to be controlled by OBS)

So im thinking its purely an OBS problem, with perhaps the new update..

anyways, got it to a point i can hear some things so hope that helps others.

hi - where did you switch off "control audio via OBS"?

properties of the source
if its audio enabled, it should have the option to turn off "control audio" if you right click it and select properties.
