I try the auto-wizard to no avail.

Anyone have step by step instructions on how to get the video captured to fill up the entire screen? The best I got was less than half....

AI is not help either. I found this but it does not translate to OBS Studio software:

o optimize OBS settings for capturing Digital 8 video, set the output resolution to match your Digital 8 source (usually 720x480), (there is no such setting in OBS) use a video bitrate between 2000-3000 kbps, choose the "x264" encoder with a "medium" preset, set the frame rate to 29.97 fps, and ensure your capture card is properly configured to capture the analog signal from your Digital 8 player.

Key settings to adjust:
  • Video Capture Device: Select your capture card and ensure it's set to capture the correct input source (your Digital 8 player).
  • Output Resolution: Set to 720x480 (the standard Digital 8 resolution). (there is no such setting in OBS)

  • FPS:Choose 29.97 fps, the standard frame rate for Digital 8.

  • Encoder:Select "x264" for compatibility across platforms.

  • Profile:Choose a "medium" preset for a balance between quality and file size.

  • Bitrate:Adjust the video bitrate between 2000-3000 kbps depending on your desired quality and storage space.

  • Rate Control:Consider using "Constant Bitrate (CBR)" for consistent quality. (there is no such setting in OBS)

Important considerations:
  • Deinterlacing: (there is no such setting in OBS)
Enable deinterlacing within your capture card settings or OBS if necessary to smooth out the video.
  • Audio settings:
Adjust audio settings on your capture card to ensure proper audio capture from your Digital 8 player.

  • Test and adjust:
Capture a short test clip and review it to fine-tune your settings based on the quality of your Digital 8 source.

The resolution settings you're missing are in Settings > Video,
the encoder settings can be found in Settings > Output,
Deinterlacing can be found by right-clicking your camera source > Deinterlacing.
