Newbie question... How do I see what is being recorded?

My goal is to have a "game" (actually it's an application that will be displaying a video) running full screen with a camera trained on me and displayed on top of the full-screen app. So basically the full screen video with a smaller video of me on top of it. I can set all this up in OBS just fine, but obviously all I will be seeing is the full screen application while I'm recording. Is there a way to see what is being recorded AS it's being recorded? Maybe on a second monitor? Or in a 2-PC system maybe have it displayed in a window on the encoder/streaming PC?

Thanks

Thanks, yeah I guess that makes sense. Have OBS open on one monitor and the fullscreen app on the other. I have a sneaking suspicion, though, that my little laptop isn't going to be able to handle all of this by itself. How would I see the actual stream on a PC that is set up for encoding/streaming? Would the stream from the main PC show up in the OBS window on the streaming (second) PC?
