Question / Help Newbie - Need Help With OBS (Constant Lag Problems)

Hi,

So, I am new to streaming, and would like to try it out and such, however, I am having some issues, I have tried several different setting options, that I have seen across numerous help threads, but I just cannot get it to work properly.

When I start to stream, the preview on OBS is fine and awesome, however, when watching on Twitch, it is insanely laggy, even though Twitch says stream quality is "Excellent" - I noticed it has like, on average, 20 second delay, and that's with low quality streaming, but I cannot get anything better, and looks horrible.

Stats:

i5 3570k
16GB RAM
GTX 560-Ti

1.2MB Upload.

I don't know if it's my specs, I just would've thought I would get a little something better than I have been.

Only game I've really tried to stream, is Minecraft, only because it's easier for testing purpose, but if it lags this bad on that, really doesn't leave much options for anything else.

I have included the log file, hopefully, I can finally sort this out, or at the very least, know what is the actual cause.

(I am not sure on the bandwidth requirements, but could it be that 1.2MB is just too low to stream on?)

It's because of a lot of frame drops -- this is due to insufficient upload bandwidth or poor network conditions. You seem to be using 1200 bitrate, I assume this is because you got a reported 1.2mb/s (also you're not factoring in 128kb/s audio). That's not quite the best thing to do though, because even though you may have a max of about 1.2mb/s, that's not guaranteed to really be a stable rate. Streaming requires your best stable bitrate. Basically this means that video+audio bitrate combined should usually be about 75% of your maximum upload bitrate. So instead, you might want to try 700 or 800 bitrate, or even less if you continue to get frame drops. If you're just doing single player, you can increase the bitrate to as much as you can handle, but I'm betting it can't go much higher than that. Also, make sure to lower your downscaled resolution to compensate for the lower bitrate.

For more information you might want to check out the "dropped frames/disconnections" sticky thread for all possible variables and scenarios.

kind of sounds to me, like you mean the actual delay, from whats on your stream, compared to your pc, if that's what your talking about, nothing you can do, its just the way the internet works, if your talking about actual lag, like, fps lag type thing, then look at above post
