Well, you are recording your desktop. Then Obs shows your desktop with obs open, then obs shows your desktop with obs open showing windows with obs open, then obs showing ur desktop with obs open showing your desktop with obs open with obs open. Was that right? lol

Because you're capturing your Display/Your monitor so it just endless like a repeating mirror.

"Display capture" captures your whole display. If OBS is on it, it captures that.

so any ideas how to fix and display another program. So it looks like i need to move OBS to another screen and operate it from there so it captures the screen im looking at.

If you have two monitors, you can choose which monitor you want to record. If you got only one, still no problem, because if you minimize obs, it wont record itself recording it. It only happens when u capture the program itself, which makes sense. That is completly normal and fine.
