Question / Help [NEW] Trying to Stream/Preview Stream causes "encoder initialization failed"

Since I updated OBS a couple days ago when trying to stream/preview stream I get the error "encoder initialization failed", I am using the Nvidia NVENC encoder, it's the only thing I can use as my GPU's a 780Ti while my CPU's an i5-2500k (And before you say that my 2500k should be able to handle it, it can't, trust me.) So, I'm looking for a fix while still being able to use NVENC (I don't mind downgrading OBS versions if that's possible/it won't change any of my settings or scenes.)

I've been having the same issue as well, ever since the most recent updates. Other than the OBS updates nothing on my computer has changed. Only way I can use OBS right now is to use the x264 encoding settings, which lower the quality of the stream.

The other nvenc presets. They're in advanced. Usually the encoder will fail if you try to set an NVenc preset that isn't supported by your processor or drivers.

Hmm I see. Is this advanced encoder settings thing new? I've never had to mess with it before. Also, how do I tell which settings will be best for my computer?

Automatic is what the NVenc author has said to use when I asked him about it. I don't know much about it other than that. It's only semi-new.

Okay I was wondering if it were new or not because my problem only started to occur with the most recent updates. I have not changed any settings nor done anything with my computers settings and drivers. The OBS updates are the only things to have changed.
