Question / Help New to this: what should my setup look like. Currently having issues

Hey folks,

I'm posting this because I can't quite seem to wrap my head around how I should set things up. First the back story:

My sister and I used to do a live Periscope advice show every week but we want to switch it to a different and more serious social network. Our choices were basically between YouTube and Facebook, and we've chosen Facebook as our presence on their is much greater and will definitely lead to more views. Through OBS, they essentially work the same way as well so that's not an issue.

I understand OBS. I understand the concept and I'm technically savvy. What I don't understand is how I should set this up so that we can run our show correctly.

Currently what I have is a Sony A7R II DSLR connected to a blackmagic Mini Recorder connected to a Macbook Pro (i5, 8gigs RAM, 128SSD), and that Macbook Pro initially caused me problems because it was wireless, however today I bought a Ethernet to USB adapter to achieve greater and more consistent speed.

What I'm wondering is, if people are streaming to Facebook/Youtube using one computer ALA my above setup, what are they then using to actually view their livestream and interact with their audience? When I try to do that on Youtube for example on the same computer, it is very very delayed, and laggy as hell. I assume this is in part because this laptop is not ideal for this sort of Task at all. But my question is more around how are people running these setups to monitor the broadcast and see what the audience is seeing, as well as interact with them?

I have a more powerful desktop downstairs in which I could install a Thunderbolt card to feed the camera's feed into the computer.

But moreover, my question is, when doing a show as described above, what is the ideal setup to not only send the video to the internet, but to monitor it and interact with viewers? Is there always a delay? How would YOU deal with this situation, how would you set it up?

Any help would be greatly appreciate so I can try to figure this out. Even just a quick breakdown of example setups of people doing something similar to what it is I want to do :)
