Question / Help New to this .... Streaming vs recording settings

A lot of the stuff I have looked at has setting for streaming, but I plan on just recording videos and I was wondering what sort of setting i should prioritize for that. New to a lot of the terminology so learning about what encored and bitrates and all that jazz means and does.

It's easy in obs studio, just use simple output mode, indistinguishable quality, software low cpu use encoder and you're done.

Don't save to mp4.

Because if ANYTHING prevents the finalization of the mp4, the entire recording session is wasted.
