Question / Help New to OBS - how to improve Twitch frame rates?

Hi - the link refers to Windows 10...any feedback related to how to do this on OS X? I see Base (Canvas) Resolution in my settings at 2048 x 1280. Do I have to adjust this down to 1080? If so, do I also need to play my games at that resolution on my own screen? What about Ouput (scaled) resolution setting - also 1080?

Thanks.

That link is in my signature for reference. It's not in response to your question.

Output resolution should either be the same or lower than canvas resolution-- there's rarely a reason to upscale.

Canvas resolution would ideally be the size of your largest source, but retina and other high resolution displays can often tax the GPUs in modern macs.

You do not need to set your game's resolution to the canvas resolution; you can just scale the source down in OBS to the canvas resolution. OBS needs to render each frame at the canvas resolution before encoding, though, so the higher it is, the more load on your GPU, and GPU overload is a common cause of stuttering and dropped frames.

Thank you. I am now experimenting with figuring out what is the right combination of resolution, bitrate, frame rate, and fast/veryfast settings to provide the best experience my system can provide.
