Question / Help New rig, no lag in game, lag on stream.

Hi all,

I'm a bit new to all of this so please keep that in mind. I just built a new rig and was trying out streaming. I have streamed before and ran into similar problems and just figured it was due to my old PC build. Specifically I am having problems with my in game FPS being completely fine, but when recording to test the games it is choppy. I have had some success with games like DOOM, but other less intensive games like Rocket League are an absolute mess. If I don't include something please feel free to ask me to add it for further assistance.

Comp Specs:

i7-6700 CPU @ 4.00Ghz (8 CPUs)
32 gigs Ram
2 x GTX 1080 SLI

OBS Settings:
Encoding: Max bitrate/buffer size 3500

Video: 2560x1440p downscaled to 720p. Filter: Lanczos, FPS:30

Advanced: CFR enabled, x264 CPU preset: veryfast


I realize there is probably more to give you, so please let me know what else I can give you to help figure out my problems.

That was my last log for a small test session on Rocket League, hopefully it's what you needed.

Did you try with studio yet?
Have you tried with just a single GTX 1080?

Yes I have tried with the single. Some trial and error notes I came up with. Rocket league problem was fixed by running it in window capture in OBS. Doom has problems with game capture and isn't picked up by window capture. However, monitor capture ran it well. Maybe it just depends on the game?

It does depend on the game, but you really should be using game capture in ALL cases of game capture, regardless of windowed vs fullscreen.
