Alright first let me thank you for this wonderfull software, since im not a wealthy man(my pc might proof me wrong but trust me im not wealthy :p) i love it being a free program for now.

So here is my issue, i tried streaming yesterday, found a few settings that caused me to drop no frames at all.

First of all my setup:
I7 3820
660TI 3gb SC
Rampage iv Gene
Kingston 16Gb predator.
Windows 8

i got a 50 mb download and 2.5 up. this upload is constant even towards america, so the server i stream on is of no issue

Here is the question, how much can i use of it to make my stream stream in 720-720+.
Since i know not everyone can watch 1080p i aim towards a lower yet great/excellent looking stream so other people can watch aswell.

What would my Bitrate need to be, my buffer, my audio fps regarding the upload.

the settings i had where it ran fluently was 1280-720 with 2000-2200 bitrate and buffer, on a 128 audio bitrate. i think onyl 50 frames dropped ( but i had more scenes running, vanished after i deleted those) in a timeframe of an hour +

The issue however was that the quality wasnt great.. looked more like 480-620p.
And obs displayed me at 20 fps~ while my pc had no trouble running borderlands 2 on pretty high graphics settings.
i think bandwith spiked at 2200(icon became red at this point) was green/yellow most of the time.

If anyone could help me with this it would be appreciated, if i forget anything or if you have any questions regarding my setup i will answer them.

You should be able to do 720p decently at 2000. It should be 720 unless you accidently hit the downscale or something. Not entirely sure. May want to post a log or something.

my screen is 1080 so is my resolution so im downscaling it to 720. but im more concerned about the "lack" of quality since it doesnt look like 720+

im currently not at home so i cant show you or post logs( if i even know how too)
i know 2.5 upload is enough for a pretty decent/high quality stream.

but yeah it also has to look nice, there is some streams that have a smooth/high quality picture at 720-720+ even tho some stream with 4000 bitrate and have smooth 60 fps. i at least wanna come close to that with the upload i have

actually i have some videos up on my stream my latest stream test was this one
http://www.twitch.tv/stealthynoob/b/340637893
Warning, music is a bit loud. ill turn that down on my stream

Can you see what i mean with the quality?

post a log. you are doing 720p, but you're getting a rather high amount of motion pixellation. this is either due to dropped frames, or changing you preset away from veryfast to something like ultrafast (you shouldn't be messing with stuff in the advanced section if possible).

another possibility is you set your video encoding buffer size lower than your bitrate.

in the last video i set it too 2200 -2200 to test it out, and i think encoding was set to veryfast yes, ill change that back.

How do i post a log tho? ill be home in aprox 3 hours then i can post it

and i wasnt dropping frames at that time, must have been the preset. ill mess around with it less haha

i meant dropping packet frames (your connection) if you don't have that problem then you might wanna push your buffsize a little higher until you get a sweeet spot

a higher bitrate and especially buff size will fix the issue you're having.

try it

record the file locally with a 2500 bitrate 2500 buffsize quality 8 and "faster" preset.

you should know that you're probably not gonna be able to stream with those settings on that upload speed.

2.5mbps upload is average quality or below average quality for a 720p on 60fps stream

still pixelation on that setting

but i guess i have to accept my quality wont be 720 after all...

So what are my best options now

Yeah, you mentioned you were getting pixelation in high motion scenes. Try a lower quality. If you hover over the Quality setting, it brings up a tooltip saying what it does. "This setting will attempt to target a certain quality depending on your bitrate and buffer size. Setting this to a high value with a low bitrate will sacrifice the quality of high motion scenes, in favor of non-moving scenes, causing inconsistent quality."

i don't know what you mean by that. your screen barely moves and when it does each frame is very different from the previous.

that's not the case on the stream you have seen.

set the bitrate and buff size on 10000 10000 and record the file locally see if that would help you. if so then you know whats the problem

you can't stream that game at 720p 60fps without having that issue because your upload speed wont matter that much after 5mbps since alot of viewers would have lag issues.
