New Capture card and screen tearing

I purchased a capture card from Amazon the other day and I have been trying to use it for my streams but i keep noticing screen tearing and at worst the the source (not the whole program) will completely freeze up and nothing will move on it even though everything else seems to work fine. I am not sure if the problem is with my capture card or if my computer cannot handle it or if there is something that i can change that might help. i have tried lowering my resolution of my stream and sometimes it seems to help and others it does not.

Looks like it's the capture card. OBS is not receiving frame data in the proper format and is doing its best to repair the capture. Any data loss in the transmission is going to result in tearing.

Is it USB3 really? 1080p60 needs alot of bandwidth. And try if you can point the driver to another method than "MJPEG".

And you should name us the brand and model of the capture card, so that all volunteers here at OBS may device to recommend or discourage this model in the future.

Alot of problems arise due to not knowing who in the forum already made good or bad experience with an (unsaid hence unknown) specific model.

The only thing and i do mean the ONLY thing that seems to work and help is that i manually change the capture card of the source to 720p and than enlarge the screen to fill the 1080 screen

Your Amazon-Link only resolves to overview page of similar products, not a specific one.
Your last post sounds a bit like usb or thruput problems of that card. Most cards are capable to handle 720p.

I would send it back and take one known for good quality.
