Hello,
I have been having an issue lately which I suspect I have been having since first updating to the latest version of OBS Studio about a month or so ago...
Whenever I am streaming (and ONLY when I am streaming) my internet disconnects very frequently, like every 20-30 minutes or so and then comes back half a minute later.
Today, I had some time to start doing some troubleshooting and here is what I have found.
First, some specifications.
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Download: 240 Mbps
Upload: 12 Mbps
Streaming Bitrate: 6Mbps
Ping: 24ms
OBS Studio Version: 26.0.2 (running as admin)
When I look through Event Viewer, I can see that when I am streaming, my network adapter becomes unresponsive which brings my internet down, the system recognizes that the adapter has stopped responding and then resets the adapter at which time my internet comes back and OBS reconnects and resumes streaming.
I have been stress-testing all morning with TCP & UDP packets sending and receiving simultaneously at 6 Mbps up and down and have not lost a single packet nor has my adapter stopped responding once.
I'm inclined to believe that there is an issue with OBS Studio's networking code but I am open to suggestions as to what other troubleshooting I could/should try to eliminate any other viable possibilities, BUT:
A) First, it is not my router. We have had this same router for a few years now, the last firmware update was about 4 months ago and no settings have been changed on my router, no other devices on the network are having this problem and if it was my router then the problem would be reproducible during stress-testing under real-world usage conditions.
B) It is not my adapter. Again, I have had this same adapter for a couple of years on an MSI motherboard with military-grade reliability. Nothing has changed about my setup other than updating to the latest version of OBS Studio and maybe one monthly Windows update. Also, again, if it was my adapter, the problem would be reproducible during stress-testing under real-world usage conditions.
There are no significant log entries for OBS, the OBS logs just indicate that the internet went down and there were frames dropped but I have attached the logs from yesterday's streaming session all the same.
So, any ideas, suggestions or questions are welcome and I sincerely appreciate anyone willing to take the time and make the effort to help or provide me with any further useful information.
