This isn't a problem directly related to OBS, but after hours on Google, I can't seem to find anything related to this. I'm hoping someone here might have had a similar experience, and can shed some light for me.
So, I'm having a very strange issue with both capture devices. Before I get to the problem, let me line you out with my PC and capture devices:
PC:
Gigabyte 990FX UD3
AMD FX-8350 4.0ghz
16GB RAM (1866)
Gigabyte nVidia GTX 770 (4GB)
Samsung 840EVO SSD (250GB)
Thermaltake S-Series 750W PSU
Windows 7 Ultimate (x64)
Capture Devices:
Avermedia Live Gamer HD (PCI-E 1x)
Hauppauge HD-PVR (Model 1212)
In the past, I used my Hauppauge as my primary capture device, for console gaming. It was my only device at the time, and it worked fine. I recently upgraded to the Avermedia, and used it for a few months with no major issues. Because it worked so well, I put away the Hauppauge.
Due to work, I haven't been able to stream for the last month (and when I do play, I've been playing Titanfall PC). Now I have some free time, I decided to stream some XBOX360 gameplay with my Avermedia...
Problem:
When I load up OBS/Xsplit/any streaming program, it tells me "Camera is not available". I tried loading up RecCentral (Aver capture program) to see if it would initialize. It says the card is there, but it shows a black screen. Strange. So I began my troubleshooting process. Uninstall/reinstall, etc. Nothing worked. I assumed my card had died.
So here's where it gets strange. So I uninstalled the Avermedia, and dug out my old Hauppauge HD-PVR. I didn't need to install any additional software, as everything was still on the PC from it's previous use. I launched Total Media Extreme (TME), and the Capture Module was showing a black screen. Weird. I closed TME, and launched XSplit... added the PVR as a camera and it says "Camera is not available" (couldn't try this in OBS, as the Hauppauge is not supported).
Summary:
So, I have two capture devices with the same exact problem. It doesn't appear to be an OBS issue, but rather a Windows issue. The drivers appear to be loading correctly on both devices, and both are recognized by their respective capture programs. But they aren't actually pulling in a video feed. The pass through is working on both, however, and I can see my XBOX screen on my TV.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? What did you find? Both devices are recognized as working properly in device manager.
