Question / Help Negative Sync Offset?

Hey guys,
I know the Sync Offset (ms) in the sound mixer accepts negative values, but how does it achieve the result? It seems to me like it is working. For example, I have a problem where introducing Voicemeeter Banana in my audio chain has added a little bit of a delay in the sound, and it makes sense - even with the lowest sample rate the sound still takes about 50 ms or so to travel through the additional software to be processed, while the picture from my webcam and game is captured into OBS the way it was before. So I figured if I add a negative delay, can I sync the sound back up? To my surprise, it looks like it worked. Obviously, OBS can't go ahead in time and receive the sound faster if I set a negative sync offset, so what is happening? If I set a negative offset of -50ms for my Mic/Aux and Mix/Aux2, does OBS just delay everything else apart from those two channels by 50ms - so picture and any other audio gets delayed by 50ms. Is it that?

It retrieves data from the sound buffer which is about 1 second long. So, you cannot set up negative delays more than you have data. I'm not recommend negative offsets more than 500ms.
