Question / Help Need help with what I need for laptop as streaming PC

So I have googled for the answer, and while I see the basic idea, I need more details based on my current PC setup.

First and foremost, I know I need an external USB 3.0 Capture card.

My laptop is more than capable of encoding/streaming. The issue at hand is the fact that I run a triple head monitor setup and all 3 monitors ONLY have DVI. No HDMI.

Im trying to figure out how I can figure this out. I see in my future, a DVI to HDMI converter, HDMI splitter, and a USB3.0 game capture card. But thats not the full picture. I need a solution for audio since from my understanding, DVI doesnt carry audio.

And even knowing what I will need to get, I would like an explanation as to exactly ~~how~~ all this is connected. Ive never once dealt with a capture card, so I would really appreciate an in depth explanation of how things will work.

To further possibly assist in understanding my setup, I have a GTX 980 Ti Gigabyte card which has 2 HDMI ports, 2 DVI and 2 DP. All my monitors are DVI, but since NVIDIA Surround wasnt cooperating with 2 DVI ports connected for some reason, one monitor is using a DVI to DP (or DP to DVI? I dont know the order) so one monitor is connected to DVI, one to DP, and then I have my third monitor with a DVI to HDMI (or HDMI to DVI, I dont know I am a noob)

So yea, just need some help here. I am ok with just streaming and gaming on my one PC at the moment, but as anyone, I am striving for more. I figured I might as well use my Razer Blade to some extent instead of investing in a secondary streaming PC, and even then, I need help/ideas with how to properly configure this.

Thanks ahead of time, everyone!

I can actually help you here because i run triple dvi only monitors myself, but i have one plugged into an elgato.

What is this wizardry? Why dvi to hdmi converters ofc, could probably pick one up for 5-10 bucks (i dunno what prices are like for tech where you are but in gouge your wallet straya they are still cheap as chips)

No quality loss either because its literally just converting a digital signal to a digital signal.

oh and the audio will be fine.

The chain should go, gpu -> hdmi cable -> capture card -> hdmi to dvi -> monitor

Because the hdmi is whats plugged in and the capture card is the first thing your pc sees it will treat your monitor like its a tv and allow you to send audio down the cable (the audio will just be stripped out when it reaches the hdmi to dvi conversion)

Edit: oh and if you want to use a splitter i take it your doing that for say console use and such.

in that case gpu -> hdmi cable - > splitter -> hdmi cable -> capture card -> hdmi to dvi converter -> monitor

If you then plug all the consoles into the splitter you will be able to play the consoles on the same monitor you use for your pc.

Really appreciate this! But I wanna go further into this.

Do you use a 2nd PC for capturing or are you just capturing on your main PC while you play your games? I am looking to use my laptop as a "streaming PC" so basically, I want to get a splitter to split the cable coming out of the capture card to both my main monitor as well as my laptop. Thats where my concern for the audio comes in but I figure it wont be an issue considering what you just told me.

I do infact use 2 pc's,

But the information applies to both single pc and dual pc streaming.

And to answer your question yes it should work.
