Question / Help Need help with video editing

Recently I've been hoping to start recording games my friends and I play and then uploading them to youtube for fun. I have run into a bit of a snag, however, as I have been trying to use some video editing software in the form of windows movie maker, in particular, Version 6.1, also referred to by the website as "Windows Movie Maker 2014."

As far as I can tell, there are no codec packs to allow the support of .flv files in that version of Windows Movie Maker, and so I find myself here. Basically what I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me with is either:

A: Help me find a way to allow Windows Movie Maker support .flv files

B: find an alternative to the current setup I am trying to use (No external capture devices, using OBS to record and hopefully WMM to edit.)

C: Some other suggestion that may help.

Thank you all in advance, and I apologize if I have missed some kind of sticky or have otherwise broken any kind of common courtesy here.

Err. Why don't you record the Stream as mp4 directly? (Settings -> Broadcast Settings -> Browse -> Filetype)
Normaly the Movie Maker should have no Problems with mp4 files

Thank you for the reply, bubbabenali. I have tried using mp4 files with WMM, but it seems that this version doesn't support mp4 files. Maybe I should use another version of WMM? I also have WMM 2012, but that doesn't seem to have alot of options for editing (I can't find a way to insert a clip from another video to an existing video, for example).

Edit: I tested it out; it seems like a very complex but efficient tool. Unfortunately, the video I had saved was recorded as a 35 fps .flv file which was then re-encoded as a .mp4. The end result, likely due to the unusual rate of transmission of 35 fps instead of something more conventional, like, say, 30 fps, was a video with desync'd audio that got worse over the course of the video.

I have changed the file output on OBS to mp4 (thank you for that info, btw) and set my recorded fps to 30. After that, I recorded a very short video to see if the audio was still desync'd and it worked just fine. Like I said, there seems to somewhat of a learning curve-- maybe a bit of troubleshooting too--but I find this enlightening and fun at the same time.
