Hi All, decided to try my hand at streaming a few days ago, just to see how it would go. I was having some issues with stuttering though, that I believe were probably related to my u/l being too slow at the time of trying to stream. I'm also trying to determine what the BEST settings would be for my setup, as I've seen a lot of conflicting settings between guides & YouTube videos. My PC setup is:

i7 4770k @ 4.2ghz
8GB DDR3-1866 RAM
ASUS GTX780
ASUS Maximus VII Hero Mobo

I mainly play DayZ & Arma 3, so those are the games I would be streaming. I was trying to stream at 1080p, but I've heard that 720 @ 60FPS may be a better option. As for my connection, I have a 50-55 d/l & 2.5mbps-4mbps u/l, it varies quite a bit.

Hey, im fairly new to the OBS "Forms", but ill try to help you with what i know.

Obs has a couple things i like: Game, Monitor, and Window Capture Modes. If you want to record or stream a game like DayZ or League of Legends, when you open the game, add a extra scene and have it under game capture mode.

(Example)

Scene Name - Mode Name - Properties

Monitor - Monitor Capture - Monitor 1
League of Legends - LoL Capture - League of Legends(TM) Client
DayZ - DayZ Capture - (Open Game First, Then Click Me)

Also, Have no down scaling, and stream at 31-29 FPS, this will create HD quality depending on the size of your computer monitor.

For Encodeing i use CBR and CBR padding checked on and 190 Bitrate stereo.

If you do that then you should be able to stream without lag (if you have your stream optimized to twitch or another website). When your done wit your game, remember to switch back to monitor mode or you will stream a black screen! Recording while streaming creates some lag in your game as well, so be careful about that.

That's all i got for you, hope that fixed your problem. I'm still trying to get mine fixed as well -_-

With his upload and the games he is streaming, 1080p is not a good idea. Downscale should happen.

Also, Twitch's guidelines for audio are a maximum of 160Kbps for audio, so you should not be using 192Kbps as you are breaking their guidelines.

Assuming your upload's minimum rate is 2.5Mbps, then you should never allow your stream to cross 2100Kbps upload, as any higher can cause severe framedrops when your internet decides to throttle. For DayZ and Arma 3, 720p/60fps will not be feasible at this upload.

My suggestion: resolution downscale to 1096 x 616 and set your FPS to about 42; keep your video bitrate at 2000 and your audio at 96 or so. If you wish to attempt going a bit higher, you can try 2200 video + 128 audio, but be wary of framedrops when your internet decides to take a crash.

I suggest using "medium" encoding preset when streaming at this; a 4.2GHz haswell i7 ought to be able to handle it. If you're overheating or hitting 100% CPU usage (the latter shouldn't happen), try moving it to "fast" preset. No matter what, the bushes and long grassy fields will get... white artifacts? Yeah that's the best way to describe them. White artifacts when moving. But this cannot be helped much. These settings are tailored specifically to Arma 3 and DayZ, mind you. Your mileage may vary with other games.
