Question / Help Need help with OBS and Capture Cards and Livestreaming

I've been trying to set up my twitch live stream so I can play console games (specifically PS4 for the Destiny beta). I did some research on (external) capture cards and went to best buy and bought whatever they had on the shelf. In short it didn't work (no video or sound, yes HDCP was off) and I had to take it back (it was a hauppauge PVR). I ordered a second card from amazon, and Elgato, and set that up. The Elgato showed video (no audio) but had a 2-3 second delay on it. I tried the audio/webcam delay fix but that didn't work, as the audio/webcam would eventually catch up (took about 10s) and then I would be back to square one with severely delayed game video. I was very upset considering the time and money I put into this venture, so I'm on my last leg and asking for help.

My setup is two monitors, dual screen plugged in both with DVI-D to my desktop. I usually play on the primary monitor and the second monitor has my OBS, spotify, chat, etc. I want to set it up so that my primary monitor has the PS4 gameplay and my secondary monitor has my OBS and chat. The problem with the external cards was the SEVERE delay I experienced, with no fix, and for a LIVE stream that won't cut it (not to mention if I ever wanted to record a youtube video I'd have to line up the audio and that's a huge hassle I shouldn't have to deal with).

So my question to you is this: I'm lost, I need guidance on what I should do. I've looked into PCI cards but I have no idea what I'm looking for or what will work. A live streamer I like watching uses the avermedia live gamer hd and experiences zero game play delay and even plays by watching the game capture window. I have no idea if this is what I need or if it's possible for me to do, so any help would me appreciated. Again, I tried two external cards and the one that worked had a delay I'm not willing to deal with, and the fixes did not help.

What you want is a pcie or a usb 3.0 card. I'm currently reviewing the LGP lite and ExtremCap U3 by AverMedia. The LGP lite is using usb 2.0 and has a build in h264 encoder, therefore i'd advise against using this card for streaming. The ExtremCap U3 on the other hand is using usb 3.0 and has little to no lag at all.

I was looking at the ExtremeCap U3 but was worried about the fact that it doesn't have an HMDI out, so I would be forced to play the game in the game capture window? I suppose very minimal lag would be fine for the live stream but if it did and I'm playing any fast pace games the fact that I would have to play from the game capture is a detriment.

Are there any USB 3.0 cards with hdmi out? Also, I don't need to stream at 1080p 60fps 720p 30fps is totally fine, I just want to do it without a 3 second delay.

Without an HDMI splitter you'd be forced to play the game in the capture window or some other application you can capture with OBS. I'm using an HDMI splitter and there is no noticeable lag to see.

The Intensity Shuttle uses usb 3.0 and features HDMI out, i can't tell you if the card will work with OBS though.

My advise would be: Get the U3 and a cheap 1 in 2 out HDMI splitter. I got my splitter for 15 euro.

I'll give it a shot, unfortunately it's going to be awhile since I'll have to order it online, doubt anyone near me has it, so I won't know if it works for some time but thank you for the recommendation.

Got the device but can't get it to work. It requires a USB 3.0 port and seems to only work with specific chipsets, but I'm pretty sure I meet the requirements.

avermedia website:
• Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller (mandatory)
• Renesas, Fresco, VIA, or ASMedia USB eXtensible Host Controller

I have ASmedia XHCI controller, a few other generica/root hubs, and Intel 6 c200 host controller in my device manager, is this not enough?

It should be sufficient.
*EDIT*
I found this in the download section on the avermedia website

* With VIA or ASMedia chipset, CV710’s firmware must be upgraded to v61, and driver to v1.0.x.33
** With ASMedia chipset, 1080p 60 FPS recording is only supported when running Windows 8.1 / 8 with
Microsoft’s built-in USB 3.0 driver
