Question / Help need help tweaking settings for recording

I'm using OBS to record video, not to stream. I think i've got most of the settings tweaked properly, but i still get a lot of blur whenever there's much movement. Once things slow down everything comes into focus nicely. I have CBR disabled, quality 7 with 2000 kbps bitrate and custom buffer of 0. Any suggestions?

I've tried this setting multiple times along with many others, one thing i have found out for sure is that the NVENC works way better than the x264 does (for me), now if i can just get it to stop blurring when i move it'll be perfect, everything else looks great; also recording in my 1920x1080 and downscaling seemed t work better for me too; now it seems like i just have to get the quality and bitrate the right combo, right now i'm running quality 7 with 3500 kbps, custom buffer of 0

ok so the only thing that i've found that directly affects the quality is the bitrate, when i raise it above 5000 kpbs it starts to look a lot better, here's one at 1080p w/6000 kbps; let me know what you think, it's the best one i've made so far, i did make one at 8000 but i can't remember if there was much of a difference

Ah you are using nvenc, in that case the guide does not work. For nvenc I would recommend to just use a higher, for 720p I would use around 15000-25000 kbit and for 1080p recording up to 50000. Make sure "Use CBR" is unchecked.
If you are already happy with your recordings at 6000 though, stick to that. It also depends a bit on the content you record.
