Question / Help Need help please!

Hey! Thanks for coming here to help :)

Could someone please clear a few things up for me.

I'm trying to record Arma 3, when im recording I have 0 lag with a constant 70 fps running the game on "very high" settings. however my recording come out slightly laggy, but I can live with that, but obviously if any of you know a fix I would love it..

Also after I record a video more than a few mins, obs gets stuck on "stopping recording" after i press the stop button.

my pc specs are:

CPU - i7 2600k @3.40GHZ
Memory - 8.00 Gb RAM
GPU - GTX 980
Windows 8 64 bit

So what are the best settings for me to use on OBS studios? Please don't say x264 as its terrible for me and makes everything lag. I have found quicksync looks slightly better? I record at 60,000 bitrate.

Also, If I wanted to up my recording quality a lot, would the most beneficial upgrade be upgrading my CPU? and is RAM important?

Cheers guys!

Okay, so I am pretty new to this, but I have learned a lot from trying to find the right settings. I actually had the same issue you had when it gets stuck on "Stopping Recording".

I assume if you're not using x264 and have GTX you're using the GPU instead, correct? That's what I would recommend instead of x264. Do you ever get an "Encoder Overloaded" Message? I was getting that message, and when I did it would take forever for it to stop recording. You probably need to change your video settings to something higher so it's not as demanding on your processor, such as veryfast or ultrafast. I put a link at the bottom that shows you some settings to use. Settings are different for different computers I have come to find out so just play around with different ones to find the best fit.

About all of the other stuff... I am going to leave it up to other people as it is out of my scope of skillset.

Check out the resources tab - to the right of the "Forums Tab" - then click on "Guides (Studio)" or whatever version you're using. It could definitely help you like it did for me.

Cheers for the reply! I will go have a look, I changed a few settings and i now record at 1440p 30 fps at a bitrate of 60,000 and it seems to work fine :)

Thanks for the help.
