Question / Help Need assistance stabilizing stream

i get 100 down / 20 up (Mbps)
I tried lowering the output all the way down to 240p @60 and I still drop frames.. So obviously there is something very wrong. If someone could please help me not drop frames it would be immensely appreciated, thanks.

For one, 11000 Kbps bitrate? No. Just, no. From personal experience (and this is coming from someone with a 150Mbit symmetrical line) there is very little quality improvement over Q-7 @ 3000 Kbps. 3500 Kbps is actually the maximum bitrate the Twitch staff will tolerate. 110000 is just way too much.

Secondly, you're also lagging frames. Not just dropping frames. Which means that your CPU and GPU are falling behind a bit. If you haven't already, trying enabling OpenCL in OBS and then also try lowering the settings on the most cycle heavy settings in the game you're streaming. Tone down a bit on shadows, physics, post-processing, shaders. Things that don't really make a difference on-stream but do make a difference for the performance you get out of the game.

I have no clue how to "enable OpenCL in OBS".. just skimmed through all of the settings twice.
11k Kbps.. heh.. I got desperate and my logic was if I allow more bandwidth to be sanctioned to OBS i will not lag. apparently that is not what that bitrate does ^_^ lol..

by lagging frames is that what that little square at the bottom by the bitrate is telling me as it pulsates between red-green?

Read the log-file -- there is a difference between frames that lagged and frames that were dropped. Dropped frames are a result of a network issue (which could be any number of things), frames that lagged were a result of your CPU and GPU not being able to keep up.

Regarding enabling OpenCL -- Go into advanced, custom x264 parameters, add opencl=true.

On older hardware than yours. As you can see, you don't need to go overboard on the bitrate to get a very decent quality out of OBS. All we need to do really is find the exact right settings for your particular situation.

idk how to read this. This is from just now. I reduced to 720@30 to get hopefully better performance and switched from Ashburn (secondary) to the Ashburn server. For a while I had ~5% dropped frames and then it jumped up to ~50-60% later on... :( I am playing SC2 with all settings lowest except for shaders at max for in game depth of field and texture quality @ high when I could technically put it to Ultra (1GB GDDRAM) both of these are gfx card dependant settings.

http://testmy.net/upload -- Be sure to pick a server near you. Your issue seems to be the connection, not the hardware. At the bottom you did not have all that many lagging frames but you did have quite a number of dropped frames.

the lagged frames in the logs is a problem with AMD cards noone will confirm it but its true since i got literally the same problem with my 7870xt in every game im streaming changing to something like a gtx 660 will fix the lagged frames issue and opencl as custom parameters doesnt change a lot its just a tiny bit at least for me.

I have an AMD as well, an HD 6870 and it performs just fine. What games are you experiencing lagged frames in?

maybes its an 7800 series problem no idea then... i ordered my gtx 770 already anyway... just waiting for it to get here
