Question / Help Need advice on OBS Settings

Recently I have had trouble trying to figure out what my ideal settings would be on OBS, I have been getting frame drops, encoding overload warnings, which I think is my own fault trying to get too good of quality recordings out of my PC
I have watched every YouTube video and what not

My specs
GPU - Radeon RX 480 Nitro+ 8g
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 1700
Motherbord - MSI B350 Tomahawk
RAM - DDR4 16gb

Other questions
Will factory reset of my PC help it out as it's about 6 years old but most of the parts have been replaced?
Why when I'm in the game my dps drops on obs but when I'm tabbed onto obs while it is recording the game still it stays at a solid 30 or 60 fps?
Any feedback will help it's really draining my motivation to even make videos

Your PC is pretty beast so could it be your upload speed?

Whats your upload speed? Usually you want to use about 50% of your upload speed. If you set it too high you will get frame drops and encoding overload.

You CPU preset could also cause encoding overload, but your CPU seems good enough to handle fast/medium depending on how much stuff you have running in the background.

Thankyou for the reply! Sorry I forgot to mention I don't stream I only record and upload to YouTube, my internet is too slow to stream (Australian peasant internet) I just want to get a good ball park settings I should be able to run with my pc for quality videos, then I know I'm not trying to over do it and it could be some other reason im getting frame drops
