Native support for IEEE1394 Firewire/DV cameras (mostly for Linux)

Hello friends!

There's a lot of older video cameras on the market that have IEEE1394 Firewire/DV outputs on them and there's a lot of older computers that still have cards/inputs for these devices. Is there a way to have OBS natively support these cameras via a generic plugin/bit of code so that one could easily attach a DV camera and use it to stream? HDMI solutions cost anywhere upwards of $200 on the low end to many hundreds if not thousands more. DV support would be a great help to folks dealing with budget constraints yet have great content and ideas to share.

Linux support would be fantastic for this option.

Firewire cameras that support streaming (not just transferring recordings from dv - for some this is the only option) work like webcams on Windows.
With Linux it's a little more tricky, but for the time being you can use VLC display the stream from camera and capture it with OBS.

For direct support libraw1394 + libavc1394 based input would have to be implemented.
