With Monitor Audio feature you able to hear each audio source by ears (except self-monitoring device). But if you struggle to setup your tracks, look again at the Advanced Audio Properties of the posted guide, it has pictures and brief description on multi-track setup.
Device that has mic+speakers usually share one USB connector, so it's normal.
