This happened recently. When I play the game everything is fine, but when I play back the recording, its laggy and buffery!

Well you didn't look up a good guide. Those settings are for streaming, and they're pretty terrible for that.

Output Mode: Simple.
Recording quality: Indistinguishable
Recording format: FLV
Recording Encoder: Hardware NVENC or Software Low Cpu Use.
