Question / Help My OBS recording is very laggy and is unusable, why?

My OBS recordings are very laggy. This is only a recent issue and I can't figure out the problem. My settings are even set for extremely low quallity, but I only see one frame or so every few seconds when i play it back. I don't understand what the problem is, and if someone knows, please help me. Thank you.

Set your output mode to simple
Recording quality to indistinguishable
Recording format to MKV
Recording encoder to software (x264, low cpu usage preset, increased file size)
