Bug Report My obs keeps crashing for no reason

Ok ill remove, but lets say i get a super powerful card that comes out later this year when i get my ryzen do i just reinstall OBS studio or do a custom install for the missing files or a complete uninstall and clean reinstall, if i wanted to video encode with my GPU again? And since im sorta still a noob at OBS what is AMF mean.... I know i sound retarded are you talking about the H264 encoder instead of the more cpu used one in x264?

I'm not sure exactly how it's named in the UI, as I don't use AMD products. But yes, you could reinstall it later (or just move those files somewhere safe in the meantime).

If its similar to the nvidia encoder and i had a gtx 1070 or something if i were to uninstall it if its sorta the same as the amd hardware encoder, i unstalled it. Ill give an update after my next stream.

It seemed to help thanks fen, but now im having the game within uplay constantly crash christ at least it isn't obs cutting my streams off anymore, i dont suppose anyone knows about wildlands bug like this? Ive been all over steam forums no solution.

Okay update!: I had another crash after uninstalling and reinstalling my game and setting those obs settings just right i got another crash https://pastebin.com/HhWKYuye please help. :( Do i maybe need to go back to crimson radeon 16.12.1 i didnt have any problems with it crashing on that driver and that to most people with an rx 480 or above use, cause the higher updates are full of garbage. Should i try a different streaming service? If so which one will let me have my overlays and what not to see if its just obs or any broadcaster, i have cortex (but you cant do anything with it not even in pro) i have radeon relive (never used it) i have xsplit but i heard OBS was better. I just want to be able to stream. :(

What do you mean Harold? I do not overclock whatsoever. And i stream in x264 because i can stream on better settings with x264 then with hardware going at just low for some odd reason an 8 gb rx 480 should be able to do high at like 2.8gbs of vram and the rest should take care of itself. I do use simple encoding instead of advanced, thats when i started to have my problems too i think, i might go back to advanced setup for my stream, or uninstall and reinstall obs. Im running out of options. In streaming Ive set my priority to high then tune to film and the speed to superfast, ultra fast gives me 320p or whatever that resolution is. Ill go mess around and put advanced back on and see if that does anything if not im going to reinstall. I ran all of this fine back in dec, jan, feb, early march. But as i have stated im a noob at obs whats libx264 and what can i do to change it without sacrificing my quality of streaming.

The problem isn't in your video card with a libx264 crash.
It's in your main processor at that point.

Okay i found libx264 its default recording encoder whats the best one to use with a full amd system?

If you managed to fix all the issues your own system has been throwing at you (so far it doesn't look like you did), then for local recording AMF is the best, as it has next to no impact on CPU or GPU load at all (save for a few unoptimized games that completely saturate the PCI-E bus). For streaming x264 is the best, but it requires extra CPU.

Well ive worked and fixed the problems with my pc so far 9 i havent noticed anymroe issues nto even an obs crash but still, will amf reduce the quality of the stream? And what games is AMF not good for if you know fo any i have over 550 titles so im sure if you can think of one or two i probably have them (the games)? If so ill just reinstall obs and know for sure i wont have any more problems and should i install it on my c drive this time or my back up 3 tb because thats wheres it been since november when i downloaded it.

Well it depends on what you stream. QuickSync is worse than AMF, AMF is about equal with NVENC before Pascal and Maxwell, NVENC Pascal is better than NVENC Maxwell. Overall you would sit in terms of quality between x264 superfast and veryfast for each encoder.

And what games is AMF not good for if you know fo any i have over 550 titles so im sure if you can think of one or two i probably have them (the games)?

The ones I know of are Rainbow Six Siege (which makes even USB devices slow) and Steep (which uses a lot of detail model streaming).

If so ill just reinstall obs and know for sure i wont have any more problems and should i install it on my c drive this time or my back up 3 tb because thats wheres it been since november when i downloaded it.

That is entirely up to you. I'd recommend installing obs-studio onto the fastest disk you have though.

i actually have both of those games you mentioned lol, and with the very fast and super fast its really not much of a difference when i view the recordings, if i do have one more problem im installing it on my ssd which is my c drive
