Question / Help My Camera Won't Connect

Hi,

I'm a complete noob with this, so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place.

I've just downloaded OBS 0.10.1 (mac) on my mid 2012 Macbook Pro running OS X 10.10.3. I've connected a Canon XF305 camcorder via a Canopus ADVC-100, which means the camera is streaming standard definition via firewire connection to my macbook.

In OBS I guess you add cameras by creating a scene then adding a capture device? If I do this the only capture device option I have in the build in Factime camera. Other applications are connecting to the camcorder without issue, treating it as a standard def firewire input. Can anyone advise on how I can get OBS to recognise the camera?

Many thanks in advance!

Just had a thought whilst playing in Premiere Pro... is it because the firewire stream is DV and OBS is looking for a HDV capture device? Is this a setting I can change anywhere?

Just come up with a work around but it is terrible quality: Run another application that's capable of showing a large(ish) preview of a firewire video device. For me, that's Premiere Pro's Capture Window. Then use the Window capture tool to get a recording of that preview window as an asset in OBS. Then you can resize the window to cut off everything but the video. VERY low quality and I'm not sure how easy it will be to sync up audio...
