Question / Help Mute on Exit/Start

I have been successfully using OBS for over a year now and pretty happy with it' performance and capabilities However, I think I am missing something or not doing something correctly.

1.) When I am done streaming. I will swap to a scene that is my "sign off" image and will mute the mic, then click stop recording and click stop streaming. This all works as one would expect and then I will shut down the computer. So, what is the problem?

When I start up the computer and then start up OBS, the mic mute setting is not set as and I have to mute it again. Or, it will show muted [no volume bars], but will actually be active. I am doing something wrong or is there something that I should check?

I was just following up on this and curious if there was anyone that might have a suggestion?

It doesn't always 'remember' the mute settings correctly. Just look and make sure you're muted before you start.
Not sure on the muted-but-still-audible thing, unless you have a webcam and its audio device isn't set to Disabled.

@FerretBomb @Harold - yes, I do try to keep my eye on the "Muting", but sometimes.. you know. That would be great to have it broken up by scenes.
