Question / Help Multiple windows in preview mode

Today is the first time I'm ever tried OBS and am having an issue that hopefully is just a rookie mistake. I am trying to capture video and am using the monitor capture mode. When I "Preview Stream" the same window repeats itself in a cascading manner a number of times. See attached pic. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why are you expecting anything other than that when you're monitor capturing the same monitor that OBS is running on?

I don't understand what you are asking me. Why would I expect the monitor I am trying to capture to display itself more than one time?

OBS Window can't be on that monitor where you are doing Monitor Capture. Once when you start game in Borderless Mode game will cover your background and OBS Window so only clear game will be recorded/streamed.

If you have 2 monitors, pull OBS Window on second one with mouse and you will see that without OBS Window you get clear Monitore Capture.

This way you are creating effect Window inside Window which make OBS to preview endless windows of OBS.

dsr07mm - Thanks for explanation. At least now I know what to fix. I'm simply trying to capture a video from a single monitor. If OSB can't be managed from that single window at the same time as the video I'm trying to capture I would assume there should be a control panel in the menu bar or use hot keys. I'll give both a try. Thanks again.

Just put fullscreen on video and you will record fullscreen video normally. As @Harold said you can use gamecapture for games if you run them in fullscreen.

You can use game capture for games REGARDLESS of windowed vs fullscreen.

First of all he is talking about recording movie, not games. So read before continue to throw facts. Second he "can", but is it better ? No. If he is streaming he wants to alt tab quickly and not wait, also most likely not to have frozen screen of a game during that time. So we can throw facts and possiblities out there but it's not related to this topic.

I'm off.
