Multiple webcams

On youtube video's on how to connect multiple USB WebCams to a laptop they show a laptop as having 2 USB Controllers, directions say one will have one USB port attached which you can add a powered USB hub with three USB WebCams plugged in, and the other controller will have three USB Ports attached to it where you can plug another 2 USB WebCams into, apparently each USB controller can support 3 webcams at the same time.

On my HP ENVY laptop 15-ed1001sa I can see the 2 USB Controllers one I can plug in the powered USB hub with the three webcams connected which is fine, but I have 2 other USB ports on my laptop but when I plug in the 2 additional webcams they try to appear on the same Controller rather than the second USB Controller.

I would welcome any suggestions.

Thank you

The architecture of specific ports being connected to specific controllers is not standard at all. It may happen to be (somewhat) common, but by no means required for manufacturers to do that. It's perfectly "legal" for all external ports to be on the same controller, in which case you're just limited to that.
