Multiple video capture devices possible?

I try to add 2 USB HDMI video capture devices but only see one option in the properties although sometimes I see two ("USB") with one greyed out

They are connected to the laptop's USB C port via a USB C hub. I only have 2 USB C ports on the laptop
I plug in the power adapter in one and the USB C hub (with the 2 video sources) in the other.

Is this possible at all? Why can't I select both sources
 
If they are the same model, it could be that OBS can't distinguish between them. It could also be a limitation in USB bandwidth. Try plugging one into the hub and the other in the free port on the laptop.
 
Thanks for the tip. Turns out there's an issue with the hub. When I plug in both USB devices to the USB C ports on the laptop directly they both work in OBS. Now I have to buy another adapter to plug in the USB C to a USB port...

Even though I have a solution the question remains whether it is possible to use USB hubs (just not mine) or it's not possible at all to connect devices via hubs
