Question / Help Multiple IOS devices with OBS

Hello,

I would like to know if I can use multiple IOS devices ( two iPads and two iPhones) on OBS ?
I will use the two iPads for screen mirroring while the two iPhones will be used as cameras.
The Mac will be recording with OBS the iPads and iPhones. Would you recommend to use an EGPU ?

I know that you can use IOS with OBS but I don't know if this set up could work !

With dock thunderbolt and USB. Is it better with HDMI ?

If you just connect an iOS device to a Mac running OBS you'll be able to screen mirror.

What did you intend for the two phones you intend for filming?

Yes, the two phones will be filming. And yes through a single port. Perhaps I need to use an EGPU ?

No, I mean, for the iOS devices you intend to use as cameras, rather than screen mirroring, how are you intending on using the cameras? If you just plug them in, they will screen mirror-- this will mean the Camera app UI will appear in OBS, not just the subject(s) you are filming. Is this your intent?

An eGPU is not going to relieve a USB bus bandwidth problem if you end up having one.

Since you haven't provided any specifications for any of the devices, or the resolution or framerate or bitrate you're targeting for output, it's not possible to tell if you need an eGPU or if one would even help.

Yes this is my intend ! But I have seen on different forums that I can easily film without the Camera app UI appearing.
The resolution will be HD 1080, 24 images/sec, we will not use OBS for gaming just for filming teachers (with iPhones) and screen their course on iPads.

If you mean do I think you should buy an eGPU before trying to make this work, no. I'm not certain an eGPU is going to solve the problems with this setup you're likely to have, and I think you should move forward with testing and examine the eGPU question later.

eGPUs have bandwidth issues, you'd almost certainly be better off with a desktop of some description rather than a laptop, with or without an eGPU, and if you've already decided that the core of this system is OBS, then you'd be better off not using MacOS at all.

What is the "dock" device you're using here? I've had some (serious) issues connecting two iPhones to my one macbook Air so that I can use them as cameras (Video Capture Devices) in OBS. Thanks!
