Question / Help MultiCPU question

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on multi CPU and OBS.

Will OBS 64 utilize multi CPU? I know H264 utilization falls flat after a certain amount of cores (meaning, more cores won't increase performance) however, that number should be in the 20s.

The reason I ask is I have a LGA 2011 Dual CPU that I am entertaining the idea of putting a streaming card into.

Some people have had problems with more than 1 physical CPU chip, where only one would be used. I think this was a problem with x264 and not specific to OBS. You should probably do some searches to see if this is still an issue or not before spending more money on things. In general, you'll be seeing significant diminishing returns beyond 4 cores + HT anyways, especially if Twitch is your streaming destination, and even more so if not partnered.

There is no increase after 24 threads from what I've seen. meaning even with 24 threads each core will not mad out. in other words. 2x 6core with HT might be about the max or a 10 core with HT.

There have been tests here and there but in all honestly at that core count 1080@60 med preset is about the lowest one would need to go.
